01 Case study

Verofy

Verofy is an FCA-authorised payment institution. Its mobile app onboards merchants and then becomes where they run the business day to day: live transactions, settlements, and multi-location reporting. I worked as a product engineer on the React Native app and the surfaces around it.

01Context

Verofy is an FCA-authorised payment institution that gives UK merchants a single provider for card acquiring and payments: terminals, payment links, ePOS, settlements, and the platform that ties them together.

The Verofy App is the merchant's entry point. It's the exclusive onboarding tool, and once a business is live it becomes the app they run day to day, checking transactions, settlements, and performance across locations, on iOS and Android.

02The challenge

Two jobs, one app. Onboarding a merchant to a regulated acquirer means identity and business verification, document capture, and compliance steps that can't be skipped, and every extra step is a chance to lose the sign-up. The same app then has to serve daily operators who want their numbers at a glance, not another form.

It also has to be trustworthy by construction: two-factor authentication, PCI-compliant handling, and secure document storage, all on the devices a business actually carries around.

03What I built

I worked as a product engineer on the React Native app (iOS + Android) and the surfaces around it. The onboarding flow guides a merchant from first launch to a verified, live account, step by step, with document upload, in-app guidance, and a clear state at every point.

Post-onboarding, the same app turns into a management surface: a real-time performance dashboard, live transaction and settlement reporting, multi-location views, and push notifications for transactions and settlements. Security is built in (PIN / Face ID login, two-factor authentication, and in-app PCI-compliance guidance), alongside live support, an in-app knowledgebase, and a document vault.

04Outcome

The app runs in production on iOS and Android as Verofy's onboarding and daily-management tool for merchants, inside an FCA-authorised acquiring platform.

I owned the React Native app across iOS and Android, from MVP to production, and then through several years of releases and maintenance.
